If you have a shirt that is obviously too big for you, a belt can come to the rescue and make it look not as big. Some belts will look good on you and others won’t so it is important to choose the right one. Belt buckles can be the highlight of your outfit, especially when it is covered with rhinestones and who doesn’t like rhinestones? 

When shopping for a belt, you need to know which type flatters your body shape. By now you know that a belt will highlight the most vulnerable part of your body and so it will effect your silhouette.  A belt can trim your shape or it can add pounds. It can also shorten or elongate your figure so if you want to look good, the right belt is crucial. Basic belts that are neutral, dark brown and black should be a part of every woman’s wardrobe.

• Wear pants that skim the bottom of the foot to increase the appearance of the length of the leg. When the legs look longer it causes you to appear taller and therefore look leaner.
• Dress in one color from head to toe. This creates a long line that will draw the eye vertically and cause you to appear thinner.
• Accentuate the smallest part of the body to create a focal point. For example, if the waist is the smallest part of the body; use a belt to cinch the waist to accentuate a shapely figure.
• Avoid clothes that are too tight and avoid clothes that are too loose fitting. Choosing form fitting clothes will allow the body to have proper lines. Dressing your figure is essential and tight or clothes that are too large can cause a negative effect to dressing ten pounds lighter!
